I had some trepidation about using a light sensor for my analogue as it was "faking" the proximity by responding to light and not distance. I realised after talking to a friend that Jaycar did in fact sell ultrasonic sensors, despite the staff not realising. Below is a test of the 12V ultrasonic sensor and relay kit.
